Carbon Footprint Mapping and Tracking for the Craft Sector of Nepal

Story Cycle

This project maps the carbon footprint of Nepal’s craft sector using Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), starting with a pilot on Sana Hastakala’s knitwear. It will develop a practical toolkit to help artisans adopt low-emission production, eco-friendly sourcing, and waste reduction. In partnership with UK buyers, the project supports verified low-carbon products aligned with global sustainability standards. It empowers artisans with tools to reduce emissions, improve market access, and tap into green finance. Ultimately, it fosters environmental responsibility and economic inclusion, offering a scalable model that positions Nepal as a sustainable, culturally rooted craft production leader.

Enhancing The Climate Change Resilience Of Women Within Threatened Communities In Nepal, Through An Arts-based Storytelling Methodology

Human Rights Film Center (HRFC)

This project empowers women in high-risk communities in Nepal to adapt to climate change impacts through Paulo Freire’s critical consciousness methodology. Using art-based, film-focused storytelling, it bridges the gap between marginalized women’s lived experiences and policymakers. Participants will be trained in participatory storytelling, fostering collective action and social change. The initiative also promotes ethical art practices and collaborates with institutions like the Center for Storytelling at the University of South Wales and IVSA. Following the funding period, HRFC will mentor five organizations, ensuring the sustainability and legacy of this transformative approach to community resilience.
