As part of the British Council in Nepal’s Films and Archive work, we collaborate with film organisations, companies and academies in the UK and in Nepal to support the voices of filmmakers who identify as women. ​

Since 2020, we have been working with women filmmakers to help them develop, produced and promote their works. ​

Through the programme, we have worked with Taskovski Films, Pame Film Festival, Nepali Female Filmmakers and Film Development Board, Nepal.

Open Call for Female Filmmakers- Taskovski Film #docs Connect Training

In collaboration with Nepali Female Filmmakers and Pame Film and Music Festival, we announce placements for training, mentoring and an opportunity to connect with industry leaders in the UK. The opportunity is part of the British Council’s Gender Film Programme that aims to support women’s voices and agency in the film sector. It is supported by the Film Development Board. 

Five (5) filmmakers will receive an opportunity to participate in Sheffield Documentary Film Festival (DocFest) 2022 to present their film projects.

Gender Film Co-production Grants

To support the voice and agency of women/girls, the British Council, in support of Film Development Board’s Storybank Initiative, has provided co-production grants to three emerging storytellers to use films - both fiction and non-fiction narratives - to create short films on gender themes that can be presented to international audiences.

Call for Gender Screening Grant

The British Council and the Film Development Board (FDB) called for proposals from arts, education, and/or media organisation to develop a screening programme for Women of the World (WOW) Week, a virtual media campaign that was scheduled between 1 and 7 March 2021.
