Action research is one of the most effective strategies for teachers' continuous professional development (CPD). The British Council Nepal supports more than 200 teachers nationwide through the Action Research Mentoring Scheme (ARMS). This initiative is part of the Quality Education, Quality Schools (QEQS) project, implemented in Kawasoti Municipality, Waling Municipality, Mathagadi Municipality, and Waling Municipality. ARMS is a six-month action research programme where teachers undertake a complete action research cycle to enhance their classrooms' teaching and learning environment.

Currently, the British Council Nepal is collaborating with Gurbhakot Municipality in Surkhet, where 90 teachers are participating in ARMS, supported by 10 Mentors. These teachers are presently in the exploration phase, identifying classroom-based problems, challenges, and issues while collecting evidence to support their findings. Following this stage, they will plan and implement new interventions to improve their teaching practices, addressing these challenges directly. Teachers will share their progress and achievements upon completing the action research cycle.

One of the participating mentee teachers, Yubaraj Chapagain from Nepal Rastriya Secondary School, Jyamire, Gurbhakot-12, Surkhet, expressed: "ARMS is helping us identify subject-specific problems and solutions within the classroom. We are highly engaged in finding innovative approaches to solve our challenges. This is a valuable opportunity for us to grow professionally."
