Drawing on BBC expertise to explore creativity
In July 2013 British Council Nepal organised a five day Creativity in Journalism course for local Nepalese journalists. The course was run by an experienced BBC journalist and was free to participants.
The content of the training included how to be creative in the areas of:
• Newsgathering
• Sources
• Generating story ideas
• Interviewing
• Ethics
• Storytelling
The 2013 course was limited to 20 participants. Feedback from the local journalists was very positive. British Council plans to repeat the course again in the future so that we can reach out to a larger number of journalists and support them in exploring creativity in reporting.
